A Brainery Workshop: "How to Successfully Add Corporate Event Planning to Your Wedding Business"


How does a professional wedding planner leverage the knowledge and expertise s/he gained and use it to be a successful corporate event planner? We get that question a lot!

So, we’ve used the knowledge we’ve gained as meeting and event planning business veterans to provide you with a day full of impactful (in person) education, interactive discussion, and valuable resources. This is more than a workshop with a talking head — this is an event planner’s “brainery” that will empower you with the tools you need to get started right away.

This intensive brainery is scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Washington, DC.  During this workshop, you will come to understand meeting, convention and event management concepts and practical knowledge to assist in designing and planning meetings, conferences, and special events like a seasoned professional. Participants will discuss lessons and tactics for going after that big corporate contract they have always wanted to pursue. You will learn how to work with large numbers of corporate event volunteers, corporate sponsors, and professional speakers. Additionally, the materials for this program provides important checklists and resources, and introduces the vocabulary necessary to succeed in meeting planning.

When you are finished, you’ll be able to implement everything you’ve learned to go after those 5-figure and 6-figure contracts. And, once you earn them, you will be able to lead these events like the event planning boss that you are!

Becoming an EVENT STRATEGIST. Mastering the development of strategic objectives for your client and your company. Helping your client design an event experience that is conducive to learning or fundraising. Understanding the RFP process. Negotiating contracts with venues and vendors. Learning potential liabilities.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT. What are the key similarities and differences that you need to know.

Becoming Aware of your RISK as a Corporate Event Planner. How to MANAGE it. Learn what you will need to know to address the various issues a corporate event planner may face when it comes to legal issues, managing risk, and crisis management. What can I bring into the event? We will provide a workbook and writing utensils. If you prefer to take notes on your laptop, you are welcome to do so.

Will food and drink be provided? Yes. Lunch will be provided.

I’m having trouble finding a sitter. Can I bring my little one with me? We love children, but we do not allow children in our classes.

What’s the refund policy? Please be sure you can make it before you register. Unless the workshop is cancelled due to inclement weather or illness on my part, there are no refunds. You can, however, transfer your registration. Please email me with any issues or concerns.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? Not really — But you should bring your ID to gain access into the building. We will send you a confirmation via e-mail. If you don’t receive our confirmation beforehand, contact us in advance to avoid any confusion on-site. Our workshops are intimate and we want to make sure that a space is waiting for you as planned.
