2024 was a year that tested me as a small business owner. One of the toughest lessons I faced was learning how to navigate spaces where respect wasn’t reciprocated. Whether it was my clients, my own team members, or even family, I often found myself biting my tongue, swallowing the sting of their words, and letting negativity slide. I told myself it was the “bigger person” thing to do, but deep down, it weighed me down. Spiritually, I was carrying the heavy chip of resentment—and it was exhausting.
As the year came to a close, I knew something had to change. I wanted to start 2025 with positivity, but first, I had to cleanse my mindset. That meant letting go—of people, their comments, and the incidents that caused me pain. I made the decision to release that resentment and instead embrace peace, joy, and freedom. ✨
One powerful shift I made: I will no longer place myself in spaces that fail to honor me or my business. Respect is a basic right, and I’ve decided I won’t compromise mine. Like former First Lady Michelle Obama choosing to stay home on January 20th, I get it—100%. Sometimes you have to step back to reclaim your power. You cannot be great if you feel disrespected. You cannot soar like an eagle if the chickens are pulling you down. 🦅
So here’s my message for anyone who needs it: Protect your peace, unapologetically. Whether it’s in your life or your business, sometimes staying home—physically or emotionally—is the most empowering choice you can make.
