Life is a journey of constant change, growth, and self-discovery.
Recently, I’ve undergone a profound shift in my priorities, changing from God, my Husband, my Family, and my Business to God, ME, my Husband, my Family, and my Business. This transformation wasn’t easy, but it was necessary for my well-being and overall happiness. Here’s why I made this change and what I’ve learned along the way.
Ignoring Myself
For years, I lived by the mantra that everyone and everything else should come before me. My focus was always on God, my husband, our family, and my business, in that order. While these are undoubtedly important aspects of my life, I neglected one crucial element: myself.
I ignored my own self-care, allowing my health to diminish. My personal relationships outside of my immediate family became almost nonexistent. I was always busy, always tired, and always putting others’ needs before my own. This self-neglect led to burnout and a deep sense of dissatisfaction.
One Life to Live
A turning point came when I realized that I only get one life on this earth. If I didn’t start taking care of myself, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy or sustain the life I was working so hard to build. More importantly, I recognized that I matter. My happiness, health, and well-being are just as important as those of my loved ones.
The Shift: God, Me, Husband, Family, My Business
God: My faith remains the cornerstone of my life. It provides me with guidance, strength, and purpose. By maintaining this priority, I ensure that my actions are aligned with my values and beliefs.
Me: Placing myself second might seem selfish to some, but it’s a crucial shift. By prioritizing self-care, I am healthier, happier, and more present. This isn’t about making myself better for others, but acknowledging that my well-being is important in its own right. Self-care isn’t selfish; it’s necessary.
Husband: My relationship with my husband is a source of great joy and support. By taking care of myself first, I can be a better partner, more loving, and more engaged. Our relationship thrives when both of us are whole and happy individuals.
Family: Family is incredibly important to me. By ensuring that I am well, I can be more attentive and nurturing to my family. They benefit from having a healthier and more balanced version of me.
My Business: Lastly, my business is a passion and a significant part of my life. With better health and renewed energy, I can pour more into my work, be more creative, and manage my business more effectively.
The Benefits of Putting Myself First
Since making this change, I’ve noticed several positive outcomes:
Improved Health: Regular exercise, balanced diet, and adequate rest have become non-negotiables. My physical health has improved, and I feel more energetic and capable.
Better Relationships: By being more present and engaged, my relationships have deepened. I have more meaningful interactions and stronger connections.
Increased Happiness: Focusing on my own needs has led to a greater sense of fulfillment and joy. I am happier, which naturally benefits everyone around me.
Enhanced Productivity: With better health and a clearer mind, I am more productive and creative in my business endeavors.
Embracing the Change
Changing my priorities wasn’t easy, and it required a lot of introspection and courage. However, it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I encourage anyone who feels overwhelmed or neglected to consider re-evaluating their priorities. Remember, you matter. Taking care of yourself is not just beneficial to those around you; it’s essential for your own happiness and well-being.
We get one life on this earth. Let’s make it a healthy, happy, and fulfilling one.
Love and Soul Always, Kawania
