Quite often, I get asked by wedding and event planners for tips to help them elevate their business tactics.
When you elevate your thinking, you find that you are more proactive in your approach, and you expand your ability to understand how the key pieces of your business fit together. Overall, this helps you to provide a superior value to your clients.
Here are six (6) quick habits that wedding planners can use —
1. Increase your ability to “Think Like a Boss.” Delegate the tactical work. Focus on your business’ strategic plan.
2. Write a Business Plan and executive it. It’s the road map to your company’s success, growth, and sustainability. Without one, your marketing plan and your MONEY have no direction.
3. Understand and master your financials. Learn how to create, read, and scrutinize your financial statements so you have an explicit understanding of your company’s finances.
4. Learn how to give an effective presentation. When a client, a colleague, or the media calls upon you to speak in front of an audience, you should be ready!
5. Learn how to advocate for your clients without creating enemies. Weddings require a team of creatives working in harmony. It’s the planner’s job to lead these teams with precision, professionalism and with civility.
6. Develop fruitful relationships with your vendor partners. Relationships with your vendor partners are critical to your success. Practice good communication; build mutual trust; and treat them like an extension of your clientele.
