Over the weekend, I found myself trying to educate someone I didn’t know on Threads about race. It wasn’t a hostile conversation, but it left me feeling unsettled. A few hours later, I realized I was still thinking about the exchange — replaying it, analyzing it, feeling frustrated.
And then a simple but powerful thought popped into my head, “This is not worth the energy I’m spending on it.”
That moment reminded me how precious our energy is, and how easily we can give it away without realizing it. When we don’t protect our energy, it affects everything: our happiness, our relationships, our creativity, our productivity.
Your energy is one of your most valuable resources. And the truth is, your energy is best invested in things you can control.
If you’re ready to protect your peace and reclaim your power this week, here are three gentle but powerful tips to get you started:
1. Pay attention to how you feel.
Notice how you feel when you engage in certain activities or interact with certain people. Look at your day through an energy lens. You’ll start to see things differently. Doing a quick energy check-in can help you change habits that no longer serve you.
2. Know what matters to you.
When you are clear on what brings you joy, meaning, and momentum, it becomes easier to make decisions about where to spend your time and energy. Define what lights you up and honor it fiercely.
3. Understand what drains you and make a plan.
Once you start tuning into your energy, you’ll quickly notice the people, activities, or thoughts that leave you feeling depleted. Take proactive steps to protect your energy and your peace whether that’s setting boundaries, taking breaks, or walking away when needed.
This week, I hope you remember that you don’t owe your energy to everything or everyone.
Protect it. Guard it. Invest it where it truly counts.
You are your greatest asset — treat yourself accordingly.
Love and Soul Always, Kawania
