A Take-Away for Entrepreneurs from “The Queen’s Gambit”

{SPOILER ALERT} Recently, I watched the finale of the Netflix series “The Queen’s Gambit.” The main character was a prodigy in the male-dominated world of chess. She kicked some serious “butt” in this series, but it was obvious she felt alone and lonely throughout most of the story. So, I couldn’t help but get a little emotional while watching the finale — She was struggling to figure out how to defeat her Russian opponent when she got a call from her biggest American competitors. They helped her determine the best chess moves, which eventually led to her victory.

So, what does this have to do with entrepreneurship? No matter how good you are, you cannot succeed as an entrepreneur without the help or the advice or the support of others. You may do well by yourself for a while, but imagine how much further you could excel with some wise counsel. So, get out of your head and ask for help. It may feel scary to trust others, but it’s probably exactly what you need to succeed. And, remember this — Asking for help is not a sign of weakness; it’s a boss move.
